Tools of the Trade

Most of the photos on this blog will be taken by my DSLR Canon 550D, given to me as an engagement gift from the wonderful Mr Cookie Loves Milk. But before the days of the DSLR, I had two point and shoots, both Sony Cybershots, which have served me quite well. I still use one of them from time to time when it is inconvenient to carry around the SLR.

I have a few lenses for the 550D, but usually just end up using the kit lens.

Most of my photos are pretty much straight out of the camera, bar resizing. I also use photoshop, but probably not as well as I should be in this digital age. I’m not really computer-savvy so I normally just use photoshop to resize images and straighten up my photos, incidentally always 2 degrees anti-clockwise… maybe my head is slanted so I don’t see things straight. I will definitely never be the type of person who straightens up pictures hanging on the wall by sight because I probably don’t even notice it’s crooked! I will occasionally crop a little or tweak levels a little, but that’s about as far as my skills extend. I would love to me one of those awesome people who can totally transform (ie. make better) an image but I know I’ll never be that person so I’ll leave that to others (I’m looking at you Mr Cookie Loves Milk!)

  1. Hey there!

I searched for a contact page but I couldn’t find your e-mail anywhere on your blog. In any case, I’m reaching out to you from HuffPost Home, the Huffington Post’s website dedicated to interior design and DIY. We recently came across photos of your shoe rack (the link is attached up top) and think our readers would love to learn more about them. We were hoping you could give us photo rights to publish one of your photos. Of course, we will give full credit to you and provide a link back to your blog.

Thanks, and looking forward to hearing from you!
