Still waiting and time’s up. Tomorrow is the new d-day, also known as induction day. I can tell this one is going to be stubborn because she just doesn’t want to come out. So I’m having one last cup of (caffeine free) tea in my favourite colourful mug before trying for an early night. I don’t know how much sleep I’ll actually get though. I’ve also been knitting the baby blanket I started so long ago, just to have something to keep me occupied so top myself from going crazy. Unfortunately I still haven’t finished it, even with all this extra time. Maybe for the next baby!
I love looking at bright lipsticks and lip balms, but I always feel a bit out of place wearing them. There’s a woman at work that always looks great with bright colours, but I don’t feel like I can pull them off. I’ll just sit and admire the packaging and wear them at home.
I love colourful autumn leaves, particularly the red ones.
We were in the city for the comedy festival to see Lawrence Leung (who I love by the way) and walked past this installation of yarn Federation Square. It must have taken a long time to put up because it was massive and went along the whole wall. I love how colourful it is and that there are so many random things like these in the city from time to time. I could totally do something like this at home, I mean if the husband let me, which I’m pretty sure he would not!
Filler from the National Rhododendron Garden. I love the soft red on this flower.
We rarely have blackouts anymore. Growing up it used to happen all the time, especially when there were thunderstorms. So it was a surprise when we lost power. I noticed that the road to our street was closed as well. The husband went out to investigate and apparently due to the heat one of the power poles had split. No power for at least 4 hours, and no watching the Masterchef finale for me! Oh well, we dug out some candles and camping lights and enjoyed the lack of power for a while.
We went out for lunch today to Food Republik, and while the food was nice, it was ridiculously hot in there. It was a hot enough day, but they didn’t really have any airconditioning in there so we literally melted. For dessert we headed down the street to the Dessert Story that was actually airconditioned. It was much better in there, especially when we got some cold drinks and dessert. I really like the decor in there, including the lights.
Another filler today. February has not been a good month! Taken last year at the National Rhododendron Garden. I love how furry this flower looks.
Another filler today, again taken at the National Rhododendron Garden last year. Such an interesting looking flower.
I decided to turn the awesome tree my friend gave me into an inspiration/goal board. I was trying to take some photos of it for my photo of the day when someone (I’m looking at you annoying husband) decided to stand in front of it like an idiot and pretend he didn’t know what I was doing. Oh well, the joke’s on him because he’s now the subject of the photo of the day. But I’ll forgive him because I love those stripy socks!
I love my shoes. I have way too many of them and only really wear a couple of pairs because they’re not comfortable enough to wear for the whole day, and also I have to wear black at work.
These are some of my favourites, white and navy stripes with a red trim from Diana Ferrari.
My friend took me out for dinner and gave me this amazing birthday gift. It’s a metal tree with little magnets on it and the design is called Blatterbaum (German? Swedish?). Love the wrapping paper too. I’m not sure what to use it for yet, either photos, hanging jewellery, or maybe to put my goals on for the year. Either way it’s really cool and definitely a gift that suits me. Thanks friend =)
I haven’t been to Crown in ages, but went out for a friend’s birthday dinner. Like I’ve mentioned before I’m not a big fan of the commercialisation of Christmas, but I really love the way the city is decked out in Christmas decorations. I love shiny thing. These giant baubles are at the entrance of the Crown complex.
Also I know it’s day 365, but it’s not finished yet! One day to go because of the leap year!
Doing some last minute wrapping on Christmas Eve… good thing some of them were already wrapped, so that saved me a lot of time and effort!
I finally got around to wrapping my KK for work. It’s a weird shape so I don’t think I did a very good job, but I hope my person appreciates it. I made a much crappier version of a hot chocolate mix found here on Hey Georgeous The Blog complete with the tiniest bottle of Kahlua. It was so small that I didn’t even get checked for ID when buying it, and with the curse of baby face I always get checked. I really love her DIYs and her photography. It’s so lovely.
I love stripy socks. Actually I love stripy everything, and it comes second to polka dots. These are the husband’s awesome socks.
Christmas is fast approaching. I don’t really buy into the whole Christmas cheer and presents. We used to celebrate Christmas when we were younger, with the tree and food and family, but as we got older, Christmas holds much less meaning for me, not being Christian and all. Chinese New Year is more my thing.
Now that I’m older parts of Christmas feel very empty, like perpetuating a lie for children, annoying Christmas carols being played in shopping centres, all the hype and commercialism. I guess you could consider me somewhat of a Scrooge.
However, I still do love shiny sparkly things like Christmas decorations. It also helps that red is my favourite colour.
Ah, the daily ritual of looking around the house for boring things that could potentially make interesting photos. Today’s photo is of some cheap bamboo placemats we got from Target when we first moved out. They’ve held up pretty well, but we only really use them when we have people over, so I guess they don’t really get much use anyway.
I’m not sure what this plant is, but the little round bubbles look quite interesting and I like the colours.
I have no idea what these flowers are called, but they sure look interesting! Love the colours.
