Still waiting and time’s up. Tomorrow is the new d-day, also known as induction day. I can tell this one is going to be stubborn because she just doesn’t want to come out. So I’m having one last cup of (caffeine free) tea in my favourite colourful mug before trying for an early night. I don’t know how much sleep I’ll actually get though. I’ve also been knitting the baby blanket I started so long ago, just to have something to keep me occupied so top myself from going crazy. Unfortunately I still haven’t finished it, even with all this extra time. Maybe for the next baby!
Sitting to the left of my bed is my hospital bag (well suitcase really), packed and ready to go, like it has been for weeks now. I’ve just used my little carry on suitcase with a polka dot ribbon tied around the handle to not get lost in the sea of suitcases when I’m travelling. At the moment though, it’s just sitting there, waiting to be used.
Officially on maternity leave as of today and my lovely workmates got me some lovely gifts including this onesie, complete with little socks.
My happy place is filled with colour and polka dots and of course friends and family. My friends got me this awesome card for my birthday and it’s very much me. I love that there are dots inside the envelope as well.
Polka dots just make the world happier.
I love living around bits and pieces of colour. Unfortunately at my brother’s place everything is very neutral and classy, and outside everything is just dry and dead because of the heat. The only colourful thing I could find to photograph today was my scarf, which I really didn’t need to bring!
Here are my pretty lanterns all lit up. I would have preferred to have the warmer yellow lights but unfortunately Bunnings doesn’t have a very big range when it comes to fairy lights. The white lights look pretty good with this pattern though.
Hooray! Some origami lanterns are finally up. Expect many more pictures of these in the future with better lighting. I love all the pretty colours and patterns.
I’m a bit over folding, so I’ve decided to take a break and start blowing up the lanterns and putting them up. I really like how they’ve turned out and I think they’ll look really great on the walls. I’m well on the way to finishing something at last! Although I don’t think the husband really likes me leaving them in the middle of the living room floor while I’m putting it all together.
Spotlight had 30% off everything today, so to add to the collection of unfinished projects, I bought some fabric to use later. I’m thinking of making a dress out of these ones.
I just keep folding these things for my lantern project. It’s actually kind of therapeutic because it keeps my hands busy, but doesn’t require much brain power. I’ll get it done eventually, but I’m not in a rush to do it. I’m also sad that I didn’t think of getting origami paper from Daiso because it would have been more ideal for the project. The paper I got is a touch thick, but the colours and patterns are pretty. Luckily the fairy lights I got are LEDs and super bright, so hopefully they will still look good.
I am also pleased because when I can’t think of anything to take photos of, these look great!
I was so upset when I lost my beautiful black polka dot scarf in New Zealand. It was so pretty and warm, but light and easy to match to pretty much everything. Best of all it was super cheap. I was so upset that I cried a little until the husband told me to snap out of it because it was just a scarf. It was my absolute favourite though. It’s hard to describe that ridiculous feeling of loss, but he’s right. It was just a scarf. I haven’t been able to find an exact replacement, but I did a search through my wardrobe and found this pretty scarf, still with the tags on. I guess it will have to fill the void for now. I won’t give up on the search though, and if that means I have to buy more pretty scarves in the meantime, I suppose that’s the sacrifice I’ll have to make!
I did some more folding for the paper lanterns today. I love the polka dot colours.
Some more coloured paper for my lantern project. Such cute colours.
After sourcing some colourful paper, I’ve started folding the lanterns to put on the fairy lights. It’s not quite as thin as origami paper, but I think it’ll still work. I haven’t puffed them up yet, because they’ll take too much room to store while I’m folding the rest. You can see the prototype I made a few weeks ago here. They look so pretty just as they are. I’ve got 250 fairy lights and I’ve made 10 so far, so only 240 to go!
My favourite winter accessories are most definitely scarves. They keep my neck warm, I can knot them in so many different ways, and they just add that little bit extra to on outfit. I own way too many of them and I’m always collecting more. Each winter I have special favourites and this year it’s this lovely polka dot scarf in different sized dots. Sorry about the not so great photo. It was late and I was lacking good light and inspiration.
Casual day at work today so I got to wear something aside from my uniform. This is one of my favourite tops (at the moment). Combined with a cardigan and box pleat skirt and I have work appropriate attire.
It’s Friday the 13th today as well **cue spooky music**. Tried to find a black cat walking under a ladder to photograph, but unfortunately I don’t know many black cats or own a ladder.
I think I need a proper theme for next week to keep me going!
