Day 19 – January Photo A Day – Breakfast
Not exactly breakfast, but it was what I was doing at breakfast time.
I stupidly thought I could whip lactose free cream even though the label said you couldn’t by adding some stabilisers. It obviously didn’t work. After a few tears (I blame the hormones), the gluten and lactose free sponge cake I was trying very hard to make for lunch with my cousin turned into a makeshift trifle instead. Sponge cake, cream, fruit & custard. It looked terrible, I made a huge mess in the kitchen, but at least I got dessert done even though it wasn’t what I set out to make originally.
I’m sure every household is the same, it has a massive tangle of cables and cords next to power points. My husband got these special boxes to put all the power boards in to keep things tidy, but he doesn’t really use them and it still looks like this on his side of the bed. I get a bit annoyed about it, but then I just push it under the bed and it’s fine again.
Our stovetop is in desperate need of a clean; dust, food, oil splatter… I’m not very domesticated!
Contrary to popular belief I do actually like things to be neat and tidy, but sometimes other things get in the way and those other things include laziness. I always make a conscious effort to tidy my desk at the end of the day so I can start the day with a clean slate. Unfortunately as the day progresses it gets more and more out of control, just like my poor little brain.
The living room floor is no exception. As hard as I try to keep it clean, life just gets in the way. Often as soon as I get home I strip off my uniform and just leave it wherever it falls until it’s time to do laundry. Such a bad habit! The husband finds it amusing when I tell him off for doing the same thing. I’m going to be a terrible role model when we have kids.
Since the husband hasn’t been working full time this year, he’s been doing most of the cooking, which I love. However, he’s not the most economical or clean cook. I don’t know what it is about men, but they always seem to be able to use all the bowls/dishes/jugs/knives/spoons/cooking utensils in the kitchen. I swear he used everything we have in the kitchen, but I’ll forgive him because dinner was tasty.
This is what my living room looked like today. Contrary to what it looks like we did not just move in. This was just my husband setting up a few things. Thankfully my living room has now been restored to it’s usual semi-messy state rather than complete chaos, otherwise I would have gone insane.
On another note we received notice today that our rent will be increasing. Swallow sadness.
