As part of my new year’s resolutions I decided to partake in Project 365 (well 366 for the leap year) so that I can attempt to improve my photography. Project 365 has been around for a long time, but this will be the first time that I’ll be attempting it and documenting it on here. The premise is simple, to take at least one photo a day. It sounds easy enough, but for a person who never seems to finish what I start because of my poor attention span, this may be a little harder than it seems. I can see this quickly degrading into a photo a week, or a photo a month. We’ll see how long I can stay motivated for.
My motivation for doing this isn’t to document my life, but to force me to take more photos and therefore improve my skills. I want to be able to experiment a little and take photos of things I ordinarily wouldn’t. At the moment I only really take photos socially or when I’m going somewhere out of the ordinary. I am also very bad at letting a backlog of photos build up, so this will really motivate me to stay on top of things.
So my rules for this project are that I will take at least a photo a day, starting from the 1st of January 2012, choose one and put in on this blog.
I will try to upload photos on the day I take them, but at most within a week of taking them, which will allow for me just a bit of extra time.
I don’t have a theme for my project. I just have to take pictures of anything, so be prepared for a lot of photos of things around my house! Maybe that should be my theme.
If I miss a day (hopefully I won’t) I will not stop and just keep moving on with the project until I’ve completed it. Usually when I miss things I tend to just give up, but not for this project.
Hopefully it will all work out, but knowing me I’ll give up as soon as I miss the first day because I’m usually a bit of a quitter.
or on this awesome site 365project.org where I find some much needed inspiration.
Update: I finally finished it! I only missed one day, but since it’s a leap year I’m counting that as my bonus day.
