Still waiting and time’s up. Tomorrow is the new d-day, also known as induction day. I can tell this one is going to be stubborn because she just doesn’t want to come out. So I’m having one last cup of (caffeine free) tea in my favourite colourful mug before trying for an early night. I don’t know how much sleep I’ll actually get though. I’ve also been knitting the baby blanket I started so long ago, just to have something to keep me occupied so top myself from going crazy. Unfortunately I still haven’t finished it, even with all this extra time. Maybe for the next baby!

Day 08 – March Photo A Day – In The Corner

We originally just wanted to paint the nursery, but then we expanded to the hallway, to the master bedroom, and now the living room and entrance way. In the process we’ve been patching the walls, ripping up the horrible skirting boards, doing some rewiring (there was a switch on the wall that didn’t even go anywhere), relocating weirdly positioned power points (4 clustered together halfway up and right in the middle of a wall) and of course accumulating all sorts of different paint (primer, ceiling paint semi-gloss for skirting boards & windows, top coat for walls). And I thought that painting would just involve painting. Silly me. I can’t wait to get rid of the horrible green.

At the moment all spaces in the house are pretty messy. We’re in the process of getting lots of things around the house done. The husband generally likes very modern, clean lines and mostly minimalistic, whereas I like colour and patterns and different textures. Luckily he likes these little origami lanterns so I hang them in the bedroom and we can both be happy. Eventually I’ll get rid of the horrible green walls. This house needs a lot of work before I’ll actually feel like it’s my space.

Manmade by the husband. The most views on this site are for this amazing shoe rack made of PVC pipe the husband made when he was between jobs. It took him a while to do and weighs an absolute tonne. Luckily only two bits fell off during the last move and glued on again quite easily. Here is settled in at its new home.

Coming Together

Coming Together

I’m a bit over folding, so I’ve decided to take a break and start blowing up the lanterns and putting them up. I really like how they’ve turned out and I think they’ll look really great on the walls. I’m well on the way to finishing something at last! Although I don’t think the husband really likes me leaving them in the middle of the living room floor while I’m putting it all together.

Folding

Folding

I just keep folding these things for my lantern project. It’s actually kind of therapeutic because it keeps my hands busy, but doesn’t require much brain power. I’ll get it done eventually, but I’m not in a rush to do it. I’m also sad that I didn’t think of getting origami paper from Daiso because it would have been more ideal for the project. The paper I got is a touch thick, but the colours and patterns are pretty. Luckily the fairy lights I got are LEDs and super bright, so hopefully they will still look good.

I am also pleased because when I can’t think of anything to take photos of, these look great!

Project 365 2012 – Day 256

Beginnings

After sourcing some colourful paper, I’ve started folding the lanterns to put on the fairy lights. It’s not quite as thin as origami paper, but I think it’ll still work. I haven’t puffed them up yet, because they’ll take too much room to store while I’m folding the rest. You can see the prototype I made a few weeks ago here. They look so pretty just as they are. I’ve got 250 fairy lights and I’ve made 10 so far, so only 240 to go!
