It’s my 2nd wedding anniversary today and it just so happens that we both had the day off. Last year we went away to Daylesford and stayed a night at Crown Metropol, where we stayed on our wedding night. However, with the husband still looking for full time work, we just decided to keep it simple and go out for lunch.
It was a really nice day so we went to the Heide Museum of Modern Art. I never even knew there was an art gallery there even though I’ve driven past a few times before. Some of the things there were really cool, and some of them made me wonder if I just didn’t ‘get’ art. The gardens were really nice though and I liked the sculptures, as seen above.
We then had lunch at Cafe Vue. It was crazy busy and there was one guy running around trying to do everything. I guess it was because it was school holidays, but we didn’t mind because we didn’t have anywhere we had to be. When the food finally came out, it was awesome. I had a pulled pork steamed bun and the husband had a burger with chips. My only complaint would be that there wasn’t enough of the deliciousness.
We decided to treat ourselves and go out for dinner at our favourite relatively cheap but good Japanese restaurant, Kenji. We spent more than we normally do there, but it was our anniversary.
Overall it was a really good day. It’s been a tough couple of years with redundancies, shifting jobs for both of us, the husband having trouble finding work, being evicted for no good reason, finding a new place and moving house, leaking air conditioners, animals dying in our ceiling… but things have a way of just working out in the end and we’ve had a lot of fun on the journey. So happy anniversary Mr Cookie Loves Milk! We don’t always have it easy, but its so much fun getting through it all with you.
